The KT Solar Power Calculator is used in 5 Easy Steps!

  1. Select your Application (Camping, Automotive/Marine, Agricultural & DIY)
  2. Select your Battery Capacity, Days Camping & Select your Solar Panel you already have, or want to use from the drop down menu’s provided.
  3. Enter your ‘Sun Hours’. If you are unsure of what Sun Hours to Enter View our guide here
  4. Enter your ‘Loads’. When we talk about Loads, we are referring to the applications you are going to run off your battery during your camping trip etc.
  5. View your results!

How to understand the KT Solar Calculator Final Results

A Green Indicator: Your system is capable of running all selected loads with the battery & solar capacity selected.

An Amber Indicator: Your system is capable of running all selected loads with the battery & solar capacity selected, however is close to exceeding your limit.
You will need to either reduce your loads & time in use, or simply increase your battery capacity & solar capacity.

A Red Indicator: Your system is incapable of running all selected loads with the battery & solar capacity selected.
You will need to either reduce your loads & time in use, or simply increase your battery capacity & solar capacity.

How do I know how many ‘Sun Hours’ to enter into the calculator?

‘Sun Hours’ refers to the amount of Sun your location receives on average. For instance, Queensland Australia receives 6 Sun Hours.

We have designed an easy Sun Hours guide here to help you work this out for your location. It is important to enter your sun hours as your location can depend on how effective your solar system will be.

What if I know the ‘Watts’ of my applications (Loads)?

We have made it easy for you by doing all of the  market research and entering default ‘Watts’ and ‘Time in Use’ for each Load. If you know the specific ‘Watts’ of your devices, you can over-ride these values at any-time.
We also recommend changing the time in use if you believe the default is less or more than what you require.

What if I have not purchased a Battery or a Solar Panel yet? How will I know what to enter?

We expect that many users of our KT Solar Calculator may not have a battery or a solar panel as yet, however the calculator is designed to help educate you as to what you will require to run your loads, and help you make that decision for your new Battery or Solar Panel just that bit easier!

Will the Solar Calculator tell me how many free camping days I can get out of my system? (referring to going off-grid)

The KT Solar Calculator will not tell you how many free camping days you can get, however we do also have the tools to be able to give you this information. Contact our team at marketing@ae4a.com.au for more information.
It is up to the user to enter how many days they will be going camping ‘off-grid’ and the calculator will assist in determining if this is possible with the Battery, Solar Capacity selected.
